The Sleep Center at River Region, which uses laboratory monitoring to diagnose and treat sleep disorders, is located on the first floor of the River Region West Campus.
Sleep disorders involve any difficulty related to sleeping, including snoring and sleep apnea. Many of these problems can be corrected surgically by River Region's physicians specializing in otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat).
Those affected with one of the possible 84 sleep disorders - including sleep apnea, narcolepsy or restless legs syndrome - can have a diminished quality of life and reduced personal health. The only way to determine specific sleep disorders, however, is to undergo an interpreted sleep study like those performed at the Sleep Center at River Region.
A sleep study, or polysomnogram, records activities such as brain waves, muscle movements, eyes movements, breathing through your mouth and nose, snoring, heart rate and leg movements. At the Sleep Center at River Region, this monitoring takes place in comfortable, home-like rooms.
