The River Region Health System Cancer Program has been approved by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer.
The Commission on Cancer is a multi-disciplinary body that sets standards for quality of care for cancer patients. There are 36 mandatory standards that must be followed in order to receive certification. Surveys are conducted every 3 years to maintain certification.
The Cancer Program releases certain information to the National Cancer Database and the American Cancer Society on an annual basis so that diagnosis and treatment trends may be compared with other Commission on Cancer approved facilities around the country in an effort to improve patient care. We conduct monthly cancer conferences, which joins together physicians of every specialty to discuss the diagnosis and treatment of patients diagnosed with cancer. These specialties include, but are not limited to Surgery, Diagnostic Radiology, Laboratory, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology.
We offer many different services to aid in the total care of cancer patients.
